Other questions about donating goods

Will my parcel be forwarded directly to someone in need?

No. All parcels are unpacked and the goods sorted. The items are then distributed by the Red Cross cantonal associations to people living in poverty throughout Switzerland. This helps us ensure that the donated goods are in perfect condition. It also means that we can distribute the goods appropriately. For example, baby products and women’s hygiene products only go to households that actually need them.

How can I send my parcel donation?

From 24 December to 18 January, you can hand in your parcel at any Swiss post office. Just write 2 x Christmas on it, as the Post Office has pre-printed address labels and will deliver the parcel free of charge to the Swiss Red Cross.

What can I put in my parcel?

Only fill your parcel with foodstuffs with a long shelf life and hygiene products. Foodstuffs must have a shelf life of at least six months. Tinned goods, rice, flour, oats, pasta, soups and other dried foodstuffs are particularly suitable. Toiletries, toothpaste and toothbrushes and female hygiene articles are also appropriate. Products for small children, such as baby food and care products and nappies/diapers are also in great demand.
